Spray Tanning Guide

STEP 1: SELECT YOUR TAN COLOUR

Scan the QR code on the tan menu in our rooms to take the tan quiz or simply choose your favorite colour. We recommend choosing your colour before you book to ensure you are placed in the correct booth with your chosen colour (some rooms/booths don’t have all of the tan colours). Easily find the best colour for you by taking our colour quiz.

STEP 2: TURN ON THE TANNING BOOTH

On the tan menu in the room, you’ll see a number associated with your tan colour. Enter the corresponding number for your tan colour into the T-Max box located on this wall by using the up and down arrows. Press the “Start/Stop” blue button. Don’t Panic - the machine will be loud as the booth begins to warm up. Rest assured your tan will not start until you enter the tanning booth and wave your hand over the blue button.

STEP 3: PREPARE YOURSELF

Get undressed and remove all clothes, footwear and jewellery from your body, including face, ears, hands and wrists. Put on the hair net provided in the room and leave your hairline and ears exposed.

STEP 4: BARRIER CREAM

Apply the barrier cream to your palms, back of hands and feet, including nails. Do not apply to the bottom of your feet.

STEP 5: STICKY FEET

Take a pair of sticky feet, peel off the paper and step gently onto each pad, ensuring the adhesive sticks to the base of your feet.

STEP 6: LEARN THE POSES FOR YOUR SPRAY TAN

  • Perfector: 2 stances (poses 1 and 4 only)

  • Tan: 4 stances (poses 1 through 4)

  • WELLFIT: 2 stances (if selected) (poses 1 and 4 only)

STEP 7: ENTER THE BOOTH

Enter the booth and then wave your hand over the blue button to activate the machine (it will light up green). The voice instructions will then guide you through the tanning and drying poses, as well as foot placements. Everything has been preset so there’s nothing else you need to do except enjoy your tan! The booth will automatically clean itself after your service is completed.

STEP 8: FINAL TOUCHES

  • After your service please dispose of your sticky feet, hair nets, and other rubbish in the bin provided. Help keep the space clean for the next user!

  • Leave the booth and tanning room, closing the door behind you, ensuring you’ve collected all your belongings.

  • Blend your tan using a blending brush for a seamless finish.

TANNING TIPS: PREPPING YOUR SKIN

The Day Before

  • Prepping your skin prior to your spray tan can make a huge difference. When we prepare the skin, we not only want to remove old tan product, but we also want to ensure we have a smooth, clean canvas so that our spray tans can work their magic effortlessly. The right skin prep can dramatically enhance the longevity and look of your tan.

  • Old spray tan can interfere with your new spray tan and cause splotchy or uneven colour. For the best results, you will want to remove any remaining tan products at least 1 day prior to your scheduled tan. Exfoliating regardless of whether you have had a spray tan prior will be beneficial to prep your skin.

    To exfoliate, you can use an oil free exfoliant product, exfoliating mit/brush, tan eraser foam, or professional exfoliating service, focussing on the dry areas of your skin to remove any dead skin cells.

  • At least 24 hours (ideally 2+ days) before your appointment, wax and shave with a high quality razor. This is best done after exfoliating. Waxing or shaving too close to your appointment time can irritate your skin, so we want to ensure there is enough time for your skin to calm down before your spray tan.

  • If you’re planning on undergoing beauty treatments before your spray tan, such as spa treatments, brows, facials, manicures/pedicures or anything else that will affect your skin, please ensure you have these appointments at least 24 hours before your tan.

  • Oil free products are highly recommended over bar soaps and cream based body washes, as these can create an invisible barrier on the skin and affect your spray tan.

TANNING TIPS: LET’S GET GLOWING!

Spray Tan Day

  • To ensure your skin has enough time to neutralise and return to its natural PH levels, we recommend not showering for the 4 hours leading up to your appointment. Want to close your pores? Opt for a cold shower or turn the water cold at the end of your shower.

    During your final shower prior to your tan, you will want to ensure that you don’t use any bar soaps or cream based body washes (oil free exfoliants and soaps/body washes are better for your tan).

  • Arrive at your tan appointment with clean, dry skin and without makeup or skincare, perfume, deodorant, and moisturiser.

    Some products contain ingredients which can affect the way our tanning formulas are absorbed into the skin. Water based products are usually fine, however oil or alcohol based products can interfere with the tanning formula. For that reason, we recommend attending your spray tan appointment without any of the above products on your skin.

  • It’s recommended that you wear loose, dark clothing so that your tan won’t rub off immediately after. Any bronzer that’s transferred onto your clothing will usually wash out, however if this is a concern for you, you can always select our Seaspray Clear tan.

    This tan sprays on clear (has no visible bronzer) and won’t transfer onto your clothing, bedding or any other product that isn’t skin.

  • You will want to avoid getting wet just after your spray tan appointment which means you may need to prepare for rainy weather. We recommend bringing an umbrella for rainy days, and avoiding sweaty activity such as exercising until after your first rinse.

Post Tan Tips

  • Right after your spray tan you will be emailed our spray tan guide, which includes recommended rinse times for your chosen tan.

    Hands and face: we recommend rinsing your hands and face 30 minutes after your spray tan.

    You will want to avoid getting wet prior to your rinse time to ensure your tan develops as required. This includes avoiding showering, pools, swimming, saunas, exercise and anything where you may get wet or become sweaty.

    Except for our Oceania Rapid tan, we recommend leaving on our tans for 6-8 hours.

    If you’ve selected the Oceania Rapid tan, you must rinse off this tan within 1-3 hours so the DHA doesn’t overdevelop.

    • Oceania Rapid tan: You must rinse off this tan within 1-3 hours so the DHA doesn’t overdevelop.

    • Seaspray Clear, Coastal and Sunseeker tans: We recommend rinsing these tans off anywhere between 6-8 hours after your appointment.

    • Hands and face: we recommend rinsing your hands and face 30 minutes after your spray tan.

  • When you rinse your tan, we recommend using warm water and avoiding scrubbing or exfoliation. Your tan is still developing even once you rinse it off and it will continue to develop for 24 hours since you had your tan. Avoid body creams or moisturisers 24 hours after your tan.

  • Even after your initial rinse, the tan is still settling in over the next 12–24 hours so please avoid rubbing your skin or tan.

  • Keeping your skin moisturised and hydrated will enhance the longevity of your tan. We recommend doing this only after your second shower (or 24+ hours after your tan). For the best results, avoid soap bars and cream based body washes and instead moisturise day and night.
